Oldřich Vlček – Violin

Studied at the Prague Academy of Art (violin in the class of Prof. Nora Grumlíková) and (conducting under the leading of chief conductor of Czech Philharmony Václav Neuman). From 1980 he was a concert master and conductor of Prague Chamber Orchestra. In 1990 he reestablished the new chamber orchestra VIRTUOSI DI PRAGA, which he founded in 1976.

From the beginning of his professional career he combines solo performing with the post of leader/conductor of orchestra. As a soloist, he has worked with Placido Domingo, Josef Suk (with whom he made a recording of among others Vivaldi's Double concertos), Antonio Meneses, Barbra Hendricks, Igor Oistrach, Pavel Kogan, Peter Schreier, Christian Benda, Sir Charles Mackerras (under his baton he recorded Handel's Concerti Grossi), Mstislav Rostropovich and number of other outstanding artists.

Under his leading orchestra recorded more than 200 CDs for Supraphon, Orfeo, Discover, Claves, Koch International and received two platinum Discs from Supraphon for the most successful recordings in the field of classical music and Gold Discs from the Discover and Supraphon labels.

Besides Prague Chamber Orchestra, Virtuosi di Praga and Amadé Orchestra Prague he conducted several other orchestras like are Florence Sinfonietta, Milano Classica, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Philharmonia, Festival Orchestra Pontes, Slovak Philharmony, Orchestra of Prague Opera House (Mozart's operas - Figaro's marriage, Cossi fan tutte, Don Giovanni, Rossini - Barber from Sevilla), Częstochowa Philharmonic etc.

He toured the whole Europe, the United States, Latin America and Far East, performed in several world international festivals - Salzburg, Philadelphia, Dresden, Reykjavik, Willach, Bregense, Santa Cecilia, Brescia, Mexico, Rio de Janeiro etc.

He is founder of the INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL PONTES.
